Busy Bees and Friendly Fish

Here at Hickory House we have enough space to have 2 rooms dedicated to the 3 – 5 years. 

The Busy Bee room is our first pre -school room and the children are mainly aged between 3 and 4.  Within this room the children have a large play area where the activities provided are to encourage learning through play. And a messy room where the children spend half of their session taking part in creative activities and a more structured learning pattern. 

The Friendly Fish room is for children aged roughly 4 – 5 years.  Again within this room the children have a large play area kitted out with equipment appropriate to their age.  These include activities to promote learning through play.  The walls are again decorated with the children’s art work to encourage self esteem and pride.

Both sides of the room have purpose built toilets so they are easily accessible for the children to promote independence and self confidence.

Friendly Fish is our newest room to Hickory House and is kept clean and inviting for the children. The room is bright, spacious and colourful with an abundance of books, toys and equipment relevant.  The room is set up attractively and imaginatively to encourage the children to receive purposeful and positive play.
Adult/child interaction is ongoing throughout the day with the meeting the individual needs of every child in their care.

Both rooms work towards the foundation stage.

The children gain all of the skills they need in life through doing various activities that enhance different aspects of learning for example  - Role play activities these encourage the children’s personal, social and emotional skills,  like sharing, taking turns and being kind.
