Play areas
As well as age related rooms we have three large indoor
play rooms where the children can go to “let off steam”, have a change
of scenery or just as an alternative type of play or activity.
Due to the size of these rooms they are
perfect for creative movement,
discos, large apparatus, ring games etc. We find these rooms
to be extremely useful especially when it is very wet or extremely cold outdoors.
In our main play area there is a large carpet area that is set up with toys for
the children. There is also a lino area which is used at breakfast time and for
lunch and tea for the toddlers. This room is used for our extra activities
as they need a large space to express themselves.
As well as the main play area we have a soft play area and sensory room, this
is used by all the various rooms at different times of the day. The soft
play has a large ball pool and soft play equipment, so the children can burn off
unused energy during the day.
Within the soft play room we have a sensory area with fibre
optics and other lights and sounds to create a stimulating environment for all
of the children to use. The room also has items that are of different textures
to give the children an all round sensory experience.
On the second floor we have a 3rd playroom. This
contains our large wooden climbing frame and slide. Again the room is not
used as a base room for a group but is used as a change of scenery or for a fun
time. The room has its own bathroom so the children are
able to take themselves to the toilet etc.
The playroom is largely used during the autumn and winter months when the weather
is too bad for the children to go outside. This is an ideal space to give
the children a play time and get away from the normal routine of the day.
Our outside play area is a large safe and enclosed playground with a good variety
of outdoor equipment suitable for all age groups. We like to go outside
to play everyday if possible to allow the children plenty of fresh air.
This year we introduced our new baby garden and adventure area to improve the
outdoor facilities and make them more accessible to the younger and older children.
These have been fitted with asto turf to make them child friendly. They
have also been shock matted so that the children will not hurt themselves if the
fall and bump themselves. As a nursery we are constantly
improving our standards, facilities and equipment to ensure that we are giving
the children the best possible start. We regularly review our practice and
strive to ensure that every parent and child is completely happy with the service
we provide.
