Our Facilities
Hickory House is a large impressive building, it is obvious
that it is a Children's Day Nursery. Hickory House has a large, safe, floodlit
car park to allow the easy drop off and collection of your children. A welcoming,
spacious reception is available where parents can leave pushchairs, prams and
car seats safely.
The Nursery has on offer a number of age related rooms each
equipped with necessary furniture, toys and equipment required by the different
ages of children.
The rooms available to the children are bright, spacious and
colourful with an abundance of books, toys and equipment relevant to each age.
The rooms are always set up attractively and imaginatively to encourage the children
to receive purposeful and positive play. Adult/Child interaction is ongoing throughout
the day with the staff meeting the individual needs of every child in their care.
The atmosphere of the nursery is happy, warm and welcoming where children are
obviously loved and cared for by true professionals who genuinely love working
with children. As well as age related rooms we have two large indoor play rooms
where the children can go to "let off steam", have a change of scenery
or just as an alternative type of play or activity. Due to the size of these rooms
they are perfect for creative movement, discos, large apparatus, ring games etc.
We find these rooms to be extremely useful especially when it is very wet or extremely
cold outdoors.
Our outside play area is a large safe and enclosed playground
with a large variety of outdoor equipment suitable for all age groups.
The play areas include a baby play area and adventure play ground.
We like to go outside to play everyday if possible to allow the children plenty
of fresh air.
As a nursery we are constantly improving our standards, facilities
and equipment to ensure that we are giving the children the best possible start.
Here at Hickory House we do not have any televisions or video equipment for the
children to watch. We believe that while they are in our care our staff shall
entertain and educate them, after all, they can watch as much television at home
as you allow. We regularly review our practice and strive to ensure that every
parent and child is completely happy with the service that we provide.
