So for parents to go back to work after the birth of a child is an emotional, heart wrenching decision that brings with it a turmoil of mixed emotions, ranging from guilt, worry and fear that their most precious possession will not get the love and care that parents give unconditionally to their child.

Here at Hickory House we realise what an important decision childcare is and we are proud of the happy, safe and relaxed environment that we provide and the genuine love and commitment that the staff give to every individual child in their care.  We also ensure that parents have the full opportunity to get to know the staff and the nursery before leaving their child with us.  This is done by allowing parents to visit the nursery with their child as many times as they feel necessary until they feel confident enough to leave their child in
our care for the duration of their working hours.

The rooms available to the children are bright, spacious and colourful with an abundance of books, toys and equipment relevant to each age.  The rooms are always set up attractively and imaginatively to encourage the children to receive purposeful and positive play.  Adult/Child interaction is ongoing throughout the day with the staff meeting the individual needs of every child in their care.  The atmosphere of the nursery is happy, warm and welcoming where children are obviously loved and cared for by true professionals who genuinely love working with children.

Hickory House opens for 51 weeks of the year, the only closures are one week at Christmas and all the public bank holidays.  We offer full day care to children from 6 weeks old to 5 years, with the flexibility to take up to 8 years in the school holidays.  We open at 8.00 am Monday to Friday and close at 6.00pm prompt.  Due to insurance purposes we are not able to accept children in before 8.00am and they must be collected by 6.00pm.
